In these difficult days, in which we are all distressed by the horror of war, music can give an important message in favor of peace and non-violence. Music is in fact a universal language, capable of overcoming diversity and promoting dialogue, communicating peace and hope messages. In first position among the most famous pacifist anthems there is Give Peace a Chance written by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, a song that in these days has been the protagonist of an important initiative in support of the Ukrainian people. 150 public and private radio stations from 25 European countries have simultaneously aired the song, sending in unison an important message of peace.
Give Peace a Chance was written by the ex-Beatle and Yoko Ono in 1969 during the Bed-in, the couple’s famous honeymoon, an open-to-the-press event.
When a reporter asked Lennon what he hoped to accomplish by staying put in a bed, he replied, “All we are saying is give peace a chance.”
So we are going to listen to this beautiful and meaningful song, now unfortunately back in vogue, to bring peace, this time in Ukraine.
